Wednesday, Jan. 18
Here we are at the close of yet another day. A day of more baby steps to recovery. Today’s ECHO didnt show significant change from yesterday’s, we are still at 21% of her function, yeap, 21% up from 6% when she coded, so our God is GREAT!!! Today they started to remove a few of her lines that the support meds were running through. The plan is to be removed completely from the vent, paralytic meds, and sedations by this weekend, and we know that God is more than able!!! We know that we have a long road, we know that we have several more days in the PICU, but if that’s what it takes for Starla to recover WE WAIT. In Isaiah 40:31 we are told that they that WAIT upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Tomorrow we have a bone marrow aspiration to see if this round of chemo has kept the leukemia in remission. So many prayers to go forth….but JUST TRUST, God is with us.

Hello prayer warriors. Another day to make progress. Starla made it through the night, weaned off off her ‘favorite’ med, she remains off of it today 🙂 The doctors and nurses have now started to wean her off of another medication. The plan is to extubate her tomorrow (remove the tubing from her mouth and have her off the vent)!!!! We cant wait to hear her little voice, we’ve been told that when they are extubated their voices are a little hoarse (we can handle that).
I must thank all of the lovely ladies that are working EXTRA hard to get shirts organized and distributed, many of those same ladies have hit the streets of Bay Minette for a “Buckets for Bucket” drive, collecting money in buckets for Starla whom has had the nickname ‘Bucket’ because she is a Bucket of LOVE 🙂
Please do not attempt to order the Just Trust T’s at this time, I have issued a couple of refunds today because unfortunately it was after the 16th that the orders were placed. It is my sincere hope to be able to resume the t shirt sales in the future, but for now, we are up to our neck in them (well the ladies are).
Don’t forget the Candlelight prayer vigil tomorrow at 4:30 at Lyons Park in Mobile, AL 🙂

Friday, January 27, 2012 From Starla’s mother
So…this is what happened this morning:

I was asleep….sound asleep, but heard the nurse on the intercom “yes,may I help you…” I sat there for a second like Huh, what is going on…then Starla answered “I NEED A NURSE PLEASE”(of coarse her voice still hoarse)
so the nurse came in and said are you okay….needless to say she was, just needed extra attention and had pressed the call button to get it!!!

THEN…the nurse asked “are you tired of wearing hospital pants” she shook her head yes (hospital pants=diapers) so the nurse said if you THINK you may be able to go I can bring a potty for ya…so she did.

Not even 5 minutes after the nurse left….she insisted she had to use it. and she DID on the potty!!!! then she leaped off the potty and just stood there!!! Mind you that after being intubated and in bed for so long thereapy is usually needed for strength in legs……JUST TRUST, we are in for an exciting day!!!!!

God is good!!! Thank You, Jesus!!!

Team Starla Announces today that Starla is being discharged from the hospital but will return on the 5 of March!!!! Her parents are very happy and thanks everyone for their prayers and ask you to continue to please pray that she be discharged from the hospital for good!!!!
